Paul Stevens 市場神學講座

R. Paul Stevens Marketplace Lecture and Intensive Course
Ministry and Spirituality:
A Theology and Spirituality of Work and Ministry for the Whole Church

Today the outside world sees busy, active, educated Christians, but not many deep Christians. This new course by R. Paul Stevens is about reconnecting ministry with spirituality. Ministry, either in the church or workplace in society, is an arena in which our spiritual life is both revealed and challenged. In the face of superficial religious piety, privatization of faith and professionalization of Christian leadership, a fully biblical theology of spirituality, ministry and work will be explored to help us live a true spirituality for the world. For those in pastoral leadership they will also find resources to equip God’s people for their service in the church and workplace.

About R. Paul Stevens
Paul Stevens is Professor Emeritus of Marketplace Theology at Regent College, Vancouver, BC. Paul has been a pastor for 20 years, a student counselor with IVCF and a businessperson (Habitat Woodcraft). From 1999 until 2005 Paul was the David J. Brown Family Professor of Marketplace Theology and Leadership at Regent College. His mission is to empower ordinary people to integrate their faith and life from Monday to Sunday. He does this through teaching, coaching, advocating and writing.

Course Description
This course addresses the need for integrating personal spirituality, biblical revelation and actual ministry as it is exercised in either the church/parachurch or workplace in society. The goal is to develop both understandings and disciplines that will be formational for an authentic Christ-honouring ministry over a lifetime.

Course Requirement
The course will be offered in English. All participants must have a recognized undergraduate degree (mature students will be considered on a case by case basis) and should be sufficiently proficient in English for graduate theological education.

Educational Outcomes
The participant will gain a deeper self-knowledge, practical steps in discerning appropriate vocational expressions, a theological basis for life and ministry whether one is in a Christian service career or chooses a societal occupation.
